Morphing Matter Lab
I was part of a research study investigating bistable properties in elastic materials, such as silicone, and their application in deployable linkage structures as means for completely mechanical linear actuators.  
I investigated the strength output needed from the cap to deploy and open the Hoberman sphere upon activation using Rhino 7 and its Grasshopper programming. FEA was conducted using the Karamba 3D add-on, which allowed us to apply materials, joints, forces, and run simulations on the 3D generated structure. The reasoning for this was for our team to understand how to scale our structures up and still deploy as wanted.
